I am a huge contemporary art fan so when I saw Chad Wys 'Nocturne' Series I was really impressed and fascinated at his work. Taking portraits from the Renaissance era he uses a process he refers to as deconstruction to "understand how culture interacts with visuality that permeates there". "The literal destruction of an object is secondary to the overall effect created by color (dis)harmony and the overall aesthetic of the reclaimed and reinvented object/experience. I openly play with the allure of foreign and aggressive new colors and forms into otherwise familiar and traditional settings. Barriers and obstacles are thereby created between the viewer and the object through which one must negotiate an understanding of what is both present and hidden," said Wys.

Qi Baishi’s Painting Sell For Record 65 Million Dollars

Creating a record high for contemporary paintings, the Eagle Standing on Pine Tree with Four-character Couplet in Seal Script sold for a record 65 million dollars on Sunday. That is 425.5 million yuan is the highest in the history of China that such a price was paid in the art market.

The work was created in 1946 when the painter was already 86 years old. China is now the worlds largest auction market place for fine art, having already overtaken UK and the US in 2010. The local art market is abuzz with the news since a new era in Chinese painting and Calligraphy is said to have begun with this sale. Qi’s popularity was already well known but the high price was still a surprise. Qi’s works raked in more than 70 million U.S. dollars in sales worldwide in 2009, only behind the works of Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol

Art Is Life Wassily Kandinsky "Quiet Harmony" & "Gelb Rot Blau"

I enjoy abstract paintings and Wassily Kandisky is one of my favorite abstract painters. The first painting is his painting called "Quiet Harmony" and the second painting is called "Gelb Rot Blau". Wassily has been credited with painting the first modern abstract works.
