Darmaki launched his collection for the Spring 2011 season to much fanfare throughout the fashion world. Sultan Al Darmaki comes from a wealthy family in the UAE and he combines artisan shoemaking with a profound respect for his family and culture. His family name never appears on the heels that he creates and Darmaki wants to open the door for other Emirati fashion designers out there. Sultan was also influenced by famed shoe designer Andre Perugia in both shoe design and the belief that a woman’s personality is revealed by the heels that she wears.
