The legacy of the famous Vacheron Constantin house can be traced back to the 1820’s, when one of the first pocket watches designed especially for women was available in Switzerland. This remarkable story of the baguette-shaped wrist watches can be seen in the Kalla Haute Couture à Pampilles watch set today. It is made up of approximately 28.70 carats of gems. The unique feature is its ‘secret’ and extraordinary way of viewing the face of the dial. It vividly reflects the 19th century tradition of discreetness and elegance. The precious stones conceal and cover the top in a fluid manner. When unfolded, they rhythmically reveal the white gold silhouette set with diamonds all along.

This hand-wound Calibre 1005 is an incredible timepiece so distinct, its dazzling flame and princess cuts is unmistakeable. The flame cuts shine with the radiance of 77 facets. This craftsmanship is highly practised and is a dedicated art that is followed by the highest quality gem setters. This of course has now become a signature design of the famous Vacheron Constantin creations.

Vacheron Constantin Celebrates The Opening Of Its First US Boutique

Finally, the world’s oldest watch manufacturer, Vacheron Constantin, opened doors to its first US boutique on Madison Avenue with grandeur and splendor. The three-day event hosted a series of black tie dinners featuring the creations of world-class chefs Chef Eric Ripert, Chef Thomas Keller and Chef Sergi Arola. Three exclusive pieces were launched at the opening – 64 limited pieces of the Overseas Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Boutique New York which is a 42mm stainless steel case with sapphire crystal, 20 limited pieces of the Historiques American 1921 Boutique New York which is a 40mm 18kt yellow gold case with sapphire crystal, and the exclusive Patrimony Traditionnelle calibre 2755 Boutique New York featuring 44mm 18kt rose gold case with AR-coated sapphire crystal. Each night guests were taken on a tour around the display of the treasures and then taxied by Rolls-Royce cars to a private mansion to experience the delectable treats.

Vacheron Constantin Historiques Aronde 1954

This is the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Aronde 1954 watch for 2011. This retro revival has the name of an avian and "wings" on the side of the case. This is 1950's era watch design experimentation in full force. My favorite part of the watch is the dial - that has vertical or horizontal lines that go in a few directions.

The oddly shaped case is however comfortable on the wrist. It is 31.20mm wide by 44.50mm tall. It has a curved sapphire crystal and is done in 18k pink gold. Inside the Aronde is a Vacheron Constantin made caliber 1400 AS manually wound movement. The alligator strap is very high-quality and brand lovers will appreciate the Maltese Cross buckle. While interesting, aside from being a vintage redo, there isn't much to say about the Aronde watch. It will not satisfy all people's tastes, but that is OK. Enough retro watch lovers will appreciate the historic design and Vacheron sense of quality to peck these timepieces up.
